Dr. Hurst Peacock
The first encounter Dr. Peacock had with chiropractic was after he had a bad weight-lifting accident. Fortunately, a chiropractor was able to help. “When I made a career change from being a professional musician, chiropractic was first and foremost in my mind due to my positive experience with it.”
Education and Honors
Dr. Peacock graduated from Auburn University in 1992 with a degree in secondary education. He then started chiropractic college at Life University but transferred to Sherman College of Chiropractic. He graduated summa cum laude in 2005 with a Doctor of Chiropractic. He also received the school’s Clinical Excellence Award as well as the Milton J. Garfunkel Award, the highest honor at the college.
A Broken Health Care System
According to Dr. Peacock, our nation’s health care system is badly broken. “I believe a large part of the reason for that is that we do not understand health and how to achieve and maintain it. Dorland’s Medical Dictionary defines health as ‘A condition of optimal physical, social, mental, and spiritual well-being — not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.’” Dr. Peacock believes that in the United States healthcare is administered as nothing more than a temporary response to symptoms — usually by suppressing those symptoms with drugs.
Providing Patients With Natural Care
Helping patients live their best lives through drug-free and effective chiropractic care is highly gratifying for Dr. Peacock. “I love being able to help people the way I had been helped.” He embraces the chiropractic philosophy of health and wellness and encourages patients to see health as a lifetime activity and not just symptom management. “I believe that anything worth having, such as one’s health, requires consistent effort and commitment.”
Staying Active in Auburn
When he’s not at the practice helping patients, Dr. Peacock enjoys spending time with his family. “I have two daughters currently in their teens who are heavily involved in the arts and my wife works at Auburn University and is an amateur photographer.” He has a project studio and still writes and records music as a serious hobby. Dr. Peacock and his family are involved members of Embrace Church and lead and volunteer in various programs through the church.
